The first thing to realize when approaching a BSD or LInux system is that the - means more.

--------
$df
--------

is a fine command for seeing the size of your file systemlinks, however

--------
$df -h
--------

adds the human quality of unit suffixes in 4 or less digits from Bytes to Exabytes.

Does this lead to a scenario of less meaning more, Is more always more? Is more less when less is more? These are questions to ask yourself when "upgrading". Is more always more? Clearly, there are instances in computing where less can mean more. It is probable that by combining technologies like Java and PHP, RSS feeds can become smaller.....less data = more speed / data unit.
