Community Update

Updates from our open source community come not in trickles but in bulk. Here're some of them:

1. Linux kernel 2.6.20.9 – this upgrade turns off IPv6 by default. Kernels previous to this have IPv6 turned on by default, making it a possible gateway for security attacks specially if the user is not aware that it is on.

2. Fedora 7 Test 4 – the final test release prior to launch. You can get it via BitTorrent. Final release is scheduled on May 24, 2007 pending no show-stopping bugs, of course.

3. Gnome desktop environment v. 2.19.1 Development Release – several new changes, bug fixes, translations and documentations. New features were added as well. For full description, download the release notes.
