Community Update
Filed in archive Finding The Right Linux For You on April 27, 2007
Updates from our open source community come not in trickles but in bulk. Here're some of them:
1. Linux kernel 2.6.20.9 - this upgrade turns off IPv6 by default. Kernels previous to this have IPv6 turned on by default, making it a possible gateway for security attacks specially if the user is not aware that it is on.
2. Fedora 7 Test 4 - the final test release prior to launch. You can get it via BitTorrent. Final release is scheduled on May 24, 2007 pending no show-stopping bugs, of course.
3. Gnome desktop environment v. 2.19.1 Development Release - several new changes, bug fixes, translations and documentations. New features were added as well. For full description, download the release notes.
