Controlling Linux from a Symbian Phone

Filed in archive Devices by Rom Feria on December 8, 2007

One of the features that gives that "Wow" effect to users is the way the Mac can easily pair with a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, via Bluetooth, and provide automatic remote control. I used to do this with my Mac's and sony ericsson phoneslinks to control iTunes, a presentation or even the desktop. I have never bothered trying this on Windows (which I still refuse to touch) but dreamt about doing this on Linux. Well, I guess I have been a good boy because Santa led me to Amora, a Symbian S60 tool that connects to your Linux, via Bluetooth, and provide remote control.

Now, if only I can make my Bluetooth dongle with the Asus Eee PC, then I'd be able to test this. Why don't you help me and try it out, then tell us what happens? :D
