Ditching Microsoft

Filed in archive Misc by James Koopmann on July 25, 2008

A very nice read out on Linux.com about a veteran developer, often with and for Microsoft products, decides to totally drop all ties to Microsoft products. And doing very nicely he might add. Take a read at Veteran developer ditches Microsoft for open source.

This veteran developer lays out some of his frustration with Microsoft patents, how he has now, through open source solutions, gotten closer to the code, can't develop as fancy interfaces, has seen a reduction in pay, but still thinks open source has a bright future.

I'll commend this guy in that he sticks with his beliefs. And I think we all believe right along side him. Open source will only progress, and much quicker, if we can utilize what we have and improve upon it. Just have a bit more ditch digging to do.
