Getting the webcam to work on Linux is one of the challenges that I faced when I was configuring a desktop linux installation. (Having an old webcam did not help either) Just like any Linux geek, I scoured the internet and tried various solutions until I reminded myself why I opted for a Mac for my video conferencing. :)

However, you still have the challenge of locating your webcam's make and model as well as the appropriate drivers to make it work. Using it as a starting guide, I may just be lucky to get that old webcam to work this time.
