How to prevent your Ubuntu XWindows config from failing
If you are like me who tried too many Linux distributions with too many different computer configurations, then you can relate when your new install fails to properly configure your GUI, i.e., XWindows fails. There are plenty of reasons for the installer to fail auto-detecting the proper drivers rendering your system usable in CLI only - until you manually tweak the configuration file.

Today, I found out about BulletProofX, a nifty tool that allows installers to fallback to a reasonable XWindows settings to prevent the system from starting in console mode. At least you get a GUI at a low resolution than none at all, right? :)

I cannot wait for this to appear on the next Ubuntu distribution. Watch out for it, I predict that it will be one of the default utilities to be bundled with all Linux distributions in the future.
