Installing Sofa
One of Apple's popular Mac OS X feature is called Front Row. This is some sort of a controller for all your computer's multi-media content. What makes it even more interesting is the bundling of an IR remote control to allow you to have a full experience of sitting in a couch, a few meters away from your computer, and enjoying your audio and video collection.

Whilst there are numerous media center applications available on Linux, Sofa is only one of the few that looks like Apple's Front Row. If you are interested in installing it, check out Ubuntu Geek's tutorial on how to install it in Ubuntu. Now, if only we can get a fully-supported IR remote with computers with Linux pre-installed, then that will surely boost the Linux numbers. :D
