Installing Ubuntu on your USB drive
Filed in archive Linux For Windows Users on September 22, 2007
Like the rest of you geeks, I have several USB thumb-drives in my possession. Some I bought, whilst others were either part of a swag or given by the employer. I have a 2GB one that serves as my transfer disk, i.e., to transfer files from one computer to another. Recently, I was given a 1GB one by my department and since I already have a 2GB one, I am thinking of installing linux on it.
It is good timing that I stumbled upon this short how-to on installing Ubuntu 7.04 on your USB thumb-drive. What makes it even better is that it allows you to change your configurations and keep it on the USB device. One down-side is that it has a step that needs Windows OS! Does anyone have another version that skips the Windows step?
Anyway, will try this and see what happens... now, where's that darn Windows disk?
