KDE just released version 4.0 release candidate 2 of its desktop environment. This is the second to the last release candidate before it is released for distribution. This version claims to be up to 40% leaner than the previous 3.5 version. Topping at 228MB memory footprint as compared to Gnome's 256MB footprint, this may very well be the best desktop for the likes of the Asus Eee PC.
With KDE and Gnome continuing to improve on its functionality whilst lessening its memory footprint, one can just imagine what happens to the minimal desktop environments such as Xfce, etc.
Now, I wonder how I can update my Eee PC to use this new version.
