Linux and Blackberry sitting under a tree...

Filed in archive Devices by Rom Feria on December 30, 2007

One of the downside of using Linux is that device manufacturers often do not consider that there are people like us who needs to connect their devices to our Linux boxes. Whilst I often find this a deal-breaker specially for new switchers, I look at it a different way - I simply refuse to buy the device! Haha.

Anyway, one of the devices is blackberry - a popular device for the corporate folks. Whilst I do not have one and nor do I plan on getting one, I know a friend who uses one and can feel his pain of not being able to sync it with his Ubuntu box. So to help him out, I looked for info and found a blog entry on how this can be achieved. Just a word of warning, though, it will need a bit of geek-hacking but hey! That is the fun in using Linux, right? :D

If you have an alternative way, please do let us know.
