Linux isn't bad for school kids

I wrote about GCompris early last year and whilst it continues to enhance my kids' education, I find it refreshing to read another parent use GCompris for his child as well. IT Wire's David Williams (I wonder if he is related to my graduate school classmate in U. of Leeds hehe) wrote about Linux in pre-school and mentions GCompris, among other things.
If you are a parent or educator, do look into what open source software has to offer you, and do so without fear that your child will have difficulties transitioning from Microsoft Windows to a Linux environment.
What I don't understand is why schools are not adopting this. However, this is great news for home-schoolers, too.
