If you talk about the email market then Novell GroupWise tends to follow Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange Hosting but now the company is working on Novell Pulse, a collaboration and social media system for corporate enterprises to add value to each of the three email systems.
Pulse is meant to be a hosted system but the company is not planning to host Pulse on its own rather its speaking with prospective hosting partners. It will be deploying a freemium strategy which means that smaller workgroups will be able to use Pulse for free but additional storage and other services will attract a monthly fee. The long term strategy is to host Pulse in their own private clouds.
At the moment, Novell's SUSE Studio appliance strategy is hotting up with service providers and key software partners. The strategy enables ISVs to provide customers with turn key systems including Linux middleware and special purpose applications.
