Untethered mobile phone internet surfing via bluetooth
Filed in archive Devices on November 30, 2007
Not too long ago, I was surfing the net on my notebook with a Serial cable connected to my mobile phone. It was upgraded with a USB cable, which was similar to what I wrote about not too long ago. Then I tried using infrared to connect but it was tricky trying to keep the two IR transceivers aligned so I rarely used this type of connection.
Today, you can connect your mobile phone with your computer with a much more reliable wireless interface, i.e., Bluetooth. Not only can you surf the net, you can also access the content of your phone.
Now, I just wish that Apple will open up their iPhone and allow these basic functionality to work via Bluetooth. If not, maybe the future Android-based phone will do better.
Do you pair your mobile phone with your computer? Maybe you can share your experiences as well.
