Using Komparator to sync directories

Using Komparator to sync directories

If you are like me, I tend to keep several copies of my photos in several directories. I use one directory as a scratch directory and do all image editing on image files in that directory. Once done, I transfer them to another "final" directory. However, sometimes there is no point in copying files that are in its original state so this is where a tool that compares files and directories comes in handy. This same process is often done when I am coding (in the absence of a version control system or when there is no network connection) – keeping several directories of the same project. So how can this be managed easily, i.e., syncing directories properly and systematically?

Komparator and KDiff3 are two utilities that can help simplify this task. I recommend that you read Linux.com's article on how to use these two tools in syncing directories.

If you have a better way of doing this, please let us know.
